Ocean Quest Scuba
Dive Master Program
Entering the professional world of scuba diving brings exciting challenges and endless possibilities: There is the chance to explore nature’s fascinating underwater creatures, and the opportunity to share your professional knowledge and experiences with students who want to learn. Scuba diving is quickly becoming one of the most popular sports in the world. Imagine entering a realm that artists can only imagine in their wildest dreams, and on a daily basis! Getting paid to do something you enjoy is something everyone wants to achieve. Professional divers achieve this goal, and are both respected and admired for their hard work and accomplishments. From owning and operating a mainland dive center or resort, to working, teaching, and traveling across the ocean on a live-aboard dive boat, professional divers get to take part in a wide variety of fun and exciting experiences – both on land and under water.
The dive master program starts with getting your books. As part of this course you will receive the Dive Master manual, Encyclopedia of Scuba, Knowledge workbook, and the RDP Wheel. It is your job to read through your dive master manual, and fill out the questions in the knowledge review section at the end of each chapter. You will also work through the Knowledge workbook using the Encyclopedia to help you answer those questions. We will have academic sessions to review your work and to help you fully understand the material you have covered. There are a series of eight exams during the dive master course.
In addition to the academics, you will have pool sessions to fine tune the 18 basic skill of scuba diving. There will also be four different swim endurance tests and a rescue review and evaluation. Then we get really busy, you will work with students (real students) both in confined water training, and open water dives. You will participate in a dive master conducted program (with real participants), you will watch, observe and learn how to work a dive boat. I will lead you through a dive masters routine day, until it becomes routine to you! You will learn how to map a dive site, evaluate conditions and work in the supervision of certified divers.Out side the normal curriculum, you will learn how to properly fill tanks, proper radio communications, boat handling, line handling and much more. Once you have completed this course you will truly be ready to work as a dive master. If your goal, is not to necessarily work as a DM, you will still gain great experiences in handling the day in and day out situations a dive master faces.
Another way my program is different than say a dive shop. Our course is all inclusive, once you have paid your course fees, there are no further charges. You will receive the following as part of your course:
All books: DM Manual, Encyclopedia of Scuba Diving, Knowledge workbook,
RDP/Slates: DM Slates that you will use for your DM conducted programs and the Wheel version of the RDP
All tanks/fills: During the course I will provide you with the tanks or fills (if you want to use your own tanks) that you will need.Photos: You will be provided with the photos you will need for your certification card.
