Captain's Notes:

WDespite a few afternoon showers we've had some great weather for diving.  Seas are calm and the visibility has been great.  We've had a pod of Spotted Atlantic Dolphins in our area and we've seen them three times over the past week.  We had a awesome night dive last Sunday night when a large Hammerhead decided to join our little group.   Our spearfisherman have had pretty good luck even though the best time to hunt is past.  We are already scouting out our sites and monitoring lobster movement for next months big "Mini-Session Lobster Fest".

                                              Whale Shark Encounter!!

11/26/2008

We spent nearly three hours today snorkeling and diving, yes diving with a young Whale Shark.

Thanks from our friends at Mad Son Fishing charters, we got a tip that there was a Whale Shark on the Shasha.   We headed out and sure enough just minutes after arriving on site, there he was about 18-20 ft in length and very friendly.  We snorkeled with him for about an hour, noticing that when he would descend he dropped right to the wrecks.  So a few of us geared up and headed in.  Just as if he was one of the group he followed us down to the Shasha and spent about 20 minutes just swimming above the wreck with us.  This was an experience of a life time, and of course, my underwater camera was at home!!!   We were lucky though to have a rental camera onboard and we got some great above surface photo's.  (film being developed as I type)

When we came back up from our dive, once again he made an appearance on the surface, just as if too ask us to stay a little longer.  We had sent out several radio messages to the other dive boats in our area, and soon they joined us for some fun.  We were happy that we had him for nearly two hours all by ourselves, so we were happy to see other divers get the same experience.

Giving the others a chance to swim with him he headed to a near by site and bagged 24 lobsters!!  Not a bad day on the "Sunday".

Remember this time of year the diving in WPB is absolutely awesome...get out and dive.  Check our specials page for special dive deals during December.
